HOKA Mach 7 Review: Light on Your Feet, Fast When You Need It

If you’re looking for a running shoe that handles easy miles but still has enough pop to pick up the pace, the HOKA Mach 7 is worth checking out.

It keeps the same responsive supercritical EVA foam from the previous version. That means you get a soft landing under your heel and a quick push-off at the toe. The midsole also features a gentle rocker shape that helps your foot roll forward smoothly, so the shoe feels like it wants to move with you.

At around 8.4 ounces, it’s light enough to forget about after the first mile, but still provides enough cushion for longer runs. The 5mm drop sits low, encouraging a natural foot strike.

What stands out most is the updated upper. HOKA refined the creel jacquard mesh to make it lighter and more breathable where your foot actually heats up. An internal gusset keeps the tongue from sliding around, and the midfoot lockdown feels secure.

On the bottom, sticky rubber covers the forefoot for better grip when you push through turns. Durabrasion rubber at the heel adds durability where you need it most. It holds up better than you might expect from something this light.

Runners who liked the Mach 6 will feel right at home here. The ride is familiar, but the design has cleaner, modern lines, and the upper fits a little better overall.

It’s a solid daily trainer that doesn’t make you choose between comfort and speed. Lace them up and use them for almost any run.
