A Delicious Escape to Montreal: The 5-Course Experience at Restaurant h3

Thinking about a trip to Montreal? It’s a city that blends historic European charm with a lively, modern feel. You can wander through cobblestone streets in Old Montreal, explore vibrant neighbourhoods, and then find yourself surrounded by sleek, contemporary architecture. In the middle of it all, I found a fantastic hotel and a memorable meal that made my recent visit special.
I stayed at the Humaniti Hotel Montreal, an Autograph Collection hotel. It’s a stylish place with a focus on well-being. You can unwind at the spa, take a dip in the rooftop pool, or work out in their two-level gym. The hotel has a modern design and a comfortable feel, making it a great home base for exploring the city.
The highlight of my stay was dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, h3. The restaurant has a cozy and lively atmosphere. What really stands out at h3 is their focus on ingredients from Quebec. They also have an impressive wine cellar, holding over 6,000 bottles with a large selection of wines from Quebec and around the world.
I decided to try the 5-course tasting menu, which was a great way to experience what the restaurant has to offer. Here’s a look at what I enjoyed:
The meal started with razor clam with fermented berries and a ginger emulsion. It was a refreshing and bright start. Next up was a shrimp donut. This was a creative dish, served with a spicy gel and mujjol caviar that added a nice pop of flavour.
For an extra course, I tried the pan-seared foie gras. It came with a sweet honeyberry jam and the crunch of almonds, a classic combination done well.
The pasta course was chitarra with spinach, sausage, and a light parmesan foam. The homemade pasta was a perfect carrier for the savoury sausage and creamy foam. Following that was the scallop, served with a classic beurre blanc sauce, nori, and blackened leeks. The scallop was cooked perfectly.
To finish, the dessert was a simple and delicious combination of cranberry, honey, and pecan. It was a sweet and nutty end to the meal.
The tasting menu is priced at $99, and you can add wine pairings for an additional cost. They have a few different pairing options, from the “Discovery” to the “Great enthusiast,” as well as a mocktail pairing.
If you’re planning a visit, consider making the Humaniti Hotel and a dinner at Restaurant h3 part of your experience. It’s a great way to enjoy the city’s sophisticated side while savouring some truly delicious local food.
