Vancouver’s Hottest Latin Party: Carnaval del Sol

The largest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest, Carnaval del Sol, is back for its 17th year, promising a three-day celebration of vibrant culture and community. Hosted by Latincouver, this festival is a chance to immerse yourself in a weekend of music, food, and fun for the whole family.
This year’s theme is “Embrace Our Passion, Celebrate Together!,” and it sets the stage for an event that’s bigger and more exciting than ever. Expect Jonathan Rogers Park to be transformed with themed plazas, showcasing the incredible diversity of Latin American traditions.
Carnaval del Sol is introducing a brand new Sport Plaza. Get ready for a high-energy, 360-degree soccer experience that celebrates Latin America’s passion for the game. The plaza will feature street-style soccer tournaments, skills challenges, immersive fan zones, and live screenings of matches. It’s a place for fans of all ages to connect and share their love for the sport.
Here’s a taste of what you can expect at the various plazas:
Plaza del Sol (Main Stage): The heart of the festival will feature over 160 local and international performers. The lineup includes the award-winning hip-hop of Boogát, the Carnaval-style beats of the Meni Axe Band, the Latin pop-folk fusion of Lussilia, and the soulful reggae of Caleb Hart. You can also catch fan favourites like the rock en Español group Tren al Sur and the comedic musical stylings of Entangados.
Food Plaza: Take your taste buds on a tour of Latin America with over 20 food vendors. From sizzling tacos and savoury pupusas to fresh Peruvian ceviche and Cuban-style rotisserie pig, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
Beer Plaza: Cool down with a cold brew while dancing to sets from DJ 2 Monkeys, DJ Vibras, and DJ Mujeres. Don’t miss the high-energy “La Hora Despechada” on Saturday night.
SHE LATINA Plaza: This space is dedicated to celebrating and empowering women entrepreneurs, creatives, and community leaders through networking, markets, and workshops.
Family & Kids Plazas: There’s fun for all ages, with a dedicated “Chiquitzin Kids Plaza” for the little ones to explore Latin American music, dance, and crafts. A special zone for seniors will offer a relaxing space with games, yoga, and workshops.
Tickets are on sale now, with prices starting at $12 for a one-day pass. Kids and seniors get in for free.
