Air Canada’s New Cabin Experience: A Better Way to Sleep in the Sky
We all know the challenges of international flights: dry air, a noisy cabin, and restless sleep. To help, Air Canada is rolling out a series of upgrades to its cabins, bedding, and amenity kits.
The airline is introducing these changes as part of its new “Glowing Hearted” cabin standards. If you’re flying to European destinations like Toulouse, Berlin, or Nantes this summer, you might get to experience them firsthand on the new Airbus A321XLR.
A Narrow-Body Jet with Wide-Body Comfort
Air Canada designed this single-aisle aircraft specifically for long-distance comfort. It features 14 lie-flat Signature Class seats, giving you a quiet, private space on long flights. The Economy cabin has also been upgraded with 168 redesigned seats that feature built-in tablet holders and extra storage.
Every seat has high-powered USB-C and AC outlets to keep your devices charged. You’ll also find larger screens with Bluetooth audio, so you can easily use your own wireless headphones. Better Bedding for Real Rest
Getting real rest on a flight takes more than just a quiet seat. Air Canada asked travellers what would help them relax, and the clear answer was better bedding.
Airline blankets often feel too short or too thin. To fix this, the new international Economy and Premium Economy cabins now feature a six-foot polar fleece blanket that keeps you warm from your shoulders to your feet.
If you’re travelling in Signature Class, you’ll get an upgraded, plush duvet, a mattress pad, and a new pillow with specialized, breathable filling that supports your head.
Reusable, Eco-Friendly Amenity Kits
Most of us throw away the plastic wrap and cheap toiletries from standard airline amenity kits. Air Canada is partnering with Canadian brands to create reusable, high-quality items you’ll actually want to keep.
The airline worked with Hunter Amenities in Burlington, Ontario, to design the kits. Instead of disposable plastic, the Signature Class kit comes in a reusable drawstring bag made from recycled cotton, while the Premium Economy kit comes in a reusable tote bag. Inside, you’ll find cozy knitted socks, an adjustable eye mask, and an antimicrobial bamboo toothbrush.
Cabin air is notoriously dry, with humidity levels often dropping to 10 percent. To combat this, the Signature Class kits include natural skincare products from Sahajan, an award-winning Canadian wellness brand.
The kits feature a rich hand cream and a nourishing lip balm made with castor and argan oils. These products use traditional Ayurvedic ingredients to soothe dry skin and lock in moisture without leaving a greasy residue.
