HEINZ Turned a Stadium Branding Rule Into a Limited-Edition Release

You can cover it up. You can’t hide it.
At the World Cup right now, strict sponsorship rules mean brands are getting taped over in stadiums. Fans noticed. One set of photos made the rounds fast: HEINZ bottles, hastily covered with tape, sitting on condiment tables. The label was gone. But everyone still knew exactly what it was.
That’s the kind of brand recognition you can’t manufacture. And HEINZ leaned into it.
The brand created its own “Unofficial Stadium Ketchup.” This limited-edition bottle intentionally blocks out the label, just like the viral photos. It’s a wink at the situation, and it’s exclusive to Canadians.
Vancouver fans already got a taste. Unofficial bottles and packets were handed out ahead of Team Canada’s match last night. If you’re in Toronto, keep your eyes open near the stadium. You can grab your own censored bottle or a pocket-sized packet to bring inside while you watch.
