Pennsylvania’s The Lodge at Glendorn is ranked No. 1 on the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2016 list of Top Resort Hotels in the Continental U.S.

The Lodge at Glendorn has been named the No. 1 Resort Hotel in the Continental U.S. in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2016. This is the first time the resort, located in northwest Pennsylvania, has received this distinction.

“We are delighted and extremely proud to have received this top-spot ranking from Travel + Leisure,” said Cliff Forrest, owner of The Lodge at Glendorn. “This is a testament to the authentic experience our staff create for our guests at Glendorn, and we share this distinction with those who have visited our nature-rich property, where adventure and family are paramount to everything we do.”

Among The 100 Best Hotels in the World in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2016, The Lodge at Glendorn ranks at No. 6.

Bordering the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania, and as a member of the Relais & Châteaux association, as well as being an Orvis-endorsed property (with another recent win as Orvis Fly-Fishing Lodge of The Year 2016), The Lodge at Glendorn is rich with wildlife and natural beauty. The resort offers guests 16 distinct cabin and lodge accommodations; a robust list of activities for every season (think: biking, hiking, fly-fishing, paddleboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and more); and award-winning culinary experiences led by Executive Chef Joe Schafer that include fine dining, terrace barbeques, outdoor picnics, cooking classes, and guest chefs; plus luxury spa services at The Forest Spa.

Add to it all attentive staff in all facets of service, the kind of people who start to feel like family by the end of a visit, as they stay true to the roots of its original owners (the Dorn family), and it’s no wonder Glendorn is known for its regular roster of returning guests, and a strong referral rate.

Families of all shapes and sizes gather in groups at this unique property. There are multigenerational gatherings to celebrate major milestones, or to come together ‘just because’, taking advantage of the multi-configuration cabin accommodations. Then, there are the friends who visit Glendorn for an opportunity to reconnect and relive the nostalgia of college days, or colleagues who convene, to join in wellness and executive retreats. Exclusive-use bookings for special celebrations and intimate wedding are trending upwards recently too.

“We look forward to continuing to deliver a ‘world’s best’ experience for all of guests at Glendorn in the year ahead,” added Co-General Manager, Stephanie Schafer. “It’s a true privilege to welcome familiar and new faces all seasons of the year.”

Glendorn also boasts a wide range of special events throughout the year that include: a blackberry-picking and a clambake weekend; Fall wagon rides; fly-fishing educational sessions, and star-gazing at Conglomeration Point. Specialty packages for weekends such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day , Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve are also available.
