Virtual tour of Vancouver Community College’s Broadway campus on Google Street View

Just in time for fall classes, street-level imagery of Vancouver Community College’s (VCC) Broadway campus became available via the Street View feature in Google Maps.

Current and prospective students, parents, alumni, staff, and friends of VCC will now be able to to take a virtual tour of the campus on Google Maps.

Staff and students have been waiting eagerly for the street-level photographic imagery to become available online. The Google team visited VCC in August 2011.

VCC now joins an impressive list of some of the world’s leading colleges and universities that have been mapped by Google. The list of partners includes post-secondary institutions across the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Spain, France, Britain, Netherlands, Israel, Japan, and Taiwan.

The Google Street View project allows users to explore places around the world through 360 degree street-level imagery. First launched in several cities in the United States in May 2007, Street View has since expanded to include cities and rural areas worldwide. Those with privacy concerns will be reassured to know that all faces and license plates captured during the process are blurred out in production.
