TEDxVancouver 2014 Announces Board of Directors and Advisors

TEDxVancouver announces their Board of Directors and Advisors for this year’s fifth edition, the largest TEDxVancouver event in history, taking place at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Saturday, October 18, 2014.

This year’s Board of Directors and Advisors are an impressive mix of passionate and talented leaders representing different industries – spanning business, philanthropy, academics, sports, music, theatre, technology, architecture, advertising, marketing and communications.

“We are honoured to have such inspirational individuals on the Board and as Advisors” said Chris Neary, Chairman of TEDxVancouver. “A strong desire to give back to the community and support innovative ideas have always been defining features of TEDxVancouver. Our board and advisors lead by example with senior mentorship, guidance and connectivity. Their care and commitment is cascading through the TEDx team, empowering individuals to do something remarkable.”

TEDxVancouver Board of Directors are: Frank Palmer, chairman and CEO of DDB Canada; Mark Brand, social entrepreneur; Chris Neary, founder of Frank Strategy; Michael Smit, COO of Medeo; David Rae, creative producer at NIKE, Inc. and Chief Curator of TEDxPortland; Kim Peacock, general manager at Edelman Vancouver; Michael Green, principal at Michael Green Architecture; Mark Starkey, brand director, Nike Basketball, founder TEDxPortland.

TEDxVancouver Advisors are: Lara Johnson, director of marketing communications at Telus; Eric Petersen, director of brand strategy at Lululemon; Chris Dyer, founding partner of Can Communicate Ltd; Dario Meli, co-founder and CEO at Quietly; Isaac Kinakin, co-founder and owner of Scene Ideas Inc; Tyson Villeneuve, partner at The Social Concierge; Christopher Bennett, vice president of communications and corporate affairs at Guitar Center; Kevin Royes, founder of Kelvin Tools and soulcial-preneur.

TEDxVancouver is one of the longest running TEDx events in the world. This year’s theme is TILT, a concept that challenges the status-quo and the engrained patterns of the human psyche. Attendees can expect an inspiring, thought-provoking program designed to awaken curiosity and shift perspectives.
