Team USA wins 2016 Honda Celebration of Light
Team USA has won the 2016 Honda Celebration of Light, despite the exceptional performances of Team Netherlands and Team Australia, as Vancouver’s most eagerly anticipated summer festival came to a close with a final electrifying performance on Saturday night.
The 26th annual festival saw dazzling performances light up the night sky from all three teams with Royal Fireworks representing The Netherlands, Howard & Sons representing Australia and Walt Disney Parks and Entertainment representing the USA.
“Congratulations to Team USA on their winning display, and thank you to all our talented competitors. We are also thankful to all of our partners and sponsors for helping us continue this wonderful Vancouver tradition,†says Paul Tilbury, Co-Chair of the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society. “We very much appreciate the time and energy that the City of Vancouver, the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation, the Vancouver Police Department and the city’s emergency services teams put into making the Honda Celebration of Light a fun, safe and family-friendly event.â€
The 2016 Honda Celebration of Light saw over 1 Million spectators coming to English Bay and Kitsilano from communities across the Lower Mainland and throughout B.C. as well as from the USA and overseas. The festival featured over 20 SHOREFEST musicians on 2 stages, 40 food trucks, sold out reserved seating areas, and the Sunsetter Lounge beer garden at Sunset Beach.
