Premier plans to boost tourism by $18 billion a year by 2016
Premier Christy Clark has announced plans to attract more visitors to BC with a new five-year tourism strategy titled “Gaining The Edge.”
Marketing campaigns will highlight touring vacations, city experiences, skiing, snowboarding, and ecotourism.
“It lays out a plan to capitalize on what we achieved with the 2010 games, and deliver the best result that we can,” says Clark.
“…The strategy targets markets where our products have the greatest growth potential, and that means focusing on existing markets like Ontario, California, Australia, the UK, and Japan.
“It also means focusing on those growing new markets: China, India.”
The province expects the strategy to bring in $18 billion a year by 2016.
