MINISO hosts grand opening at new 550 Granville Street store this Saturday

MINISO, a Japanese-designed lifestyle brand, will open three stores in Metro Vancouver this month building on their major Canadian rollout plan. The expansion begins with a notable August 12nd opening on Granville Street (550 Granville Street), followed by openings in Richmond (8010 Saba Road) and Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus (8920 University High Street). Following these openings, MINISO Canada will have locations in Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby and Tsawwassen.

With these additions MINISO Canada will more than double their current number of stores, making it a key business milestone for this retailer who will see at least six more locations in Metro Vancouver over the next year. Their existing locations at Tsawwassen Mills and West Broadway have had higher than expected sales, which has helped bolster confidence in the aggressive growth plans.

“We’re excited to grow in the Metro Vancouver retail market with the opening of our three new locations,” says Yi Ma, Vice President of Business Development. “We have our eye on further expansion in the city and hope to continue to provide high quality products and competitive prices to our customers all around the Lower Mainland.”

At the August 12th grand opening, shoppers will be treated to a musical performance, ribbon cutting ceremony, and sweet treats starting at 11 a.m. In addition, the first 100 guests to visit the store will receive a free MINISO tote bag. The Granville Street MINISO is 4900 sq. ft. and will offer products in a wide range of categories including lifestyle products, digital accessories, beauty and stationary.

MINISO was co-founded in 2013 by Japanese designer Miyake Junya and Chinese entrepreneur Ye Guofu, and is headquartered in Guangzhou, China. One of the world’s fastest growing retailers, the brand’s ambitious approach to expansion has been successful in markets including Asia and Australia. With a goal of opening 6,000 stores globally by 2020, MINISO’s rapid-fire growth has averaged at 80 to 100 store openings per month.
