Gunman Standoff at Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver

Vancouver Police say a gunman has entered the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel early Monday morning. The gunman believed to be in his 20’s is currently in a locked down area. The area around the hotel remains closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic on Cordova Street between Howe and Thurlow.

Update: No one was hurt in the incident and no shots were fired. The 28-year-old Surrey man faces possible weapons related charges.

The Vancouver Police Department issued the following statement this morning:

Vancouver – Vancouver Police are currently negotiating with a distraught man at a hotel in the 1000 block Canada Place.

At about 2:30 a.m., police received a 9-1-1 call about a man who walked into the Pacific Rim hotel with a hand gun.

To ensure the safety of the public, police have locked down a portion of the hotel.

The area is closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
