Got a creative community project? Matching funds available through the Vancouver Park Board

The Vancouver Park Board is now accepting applications from community groups for creative community building projects. The spring deadline to apply for the Neighbourhood Matching Fund is May 1, 2012.

The Neighbourhood Matching Fund supports projects by neighbourhood-based not-for-profit groups who want to make creative improvements which actively involve people in building neighbourhood connections while improving parks or other public spaces. Projects should in some way reflect neighbourhood identity and involve community members in direct hands-on activities.

To support potential applicants a public information session will be held.

When: Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. — 8:30 p.m.
Where: Trout Lake Community Centre, 3360 Victoria Drive, Grandview Room
The Vancouver Park Board will supply funds up to $10,000 to match the contribution that the community makes through volunteer labour, supplies donated and/or other funds raised.

Examples of projects include:

  • garden or greening projects
  • building a community fence
  • hand-painted tile murals and mosaics
