Downtown Vancouver Discovery Square to be Renamed Art Phillips Park
Former Vancouver Mayor Art Phillips will soon have a park named after him.
The Vancouver Park Board has voted unanimously to rename Discovery Square at the Burrard SkyTrain Station to Art Phillips Park.
Art Phillips ran the city from 1972 to 1977. He is known for ending the controversial plan to have freeways run through Vancouver, converting False Creek into a residential neighbourhood, and revitalizing Gastown.
