Digital School RED Academy Opens This Summer in Vancouver
Vancouver’s first digital media and technology school, RED Academy, will be opening its doors this summer. Founded by an experienced team of local tech professionals, RED will offer a unique style of learning that emphasizes hands-on training by real industry experts. As Vancouver’s tech industry continues to grow, RED will be the city’s only post-secondary education facility that is solely dedicated to the digital realm.
“By 2019, there will be more than 15,500 tech jobs that need to be filled, and that’s just in Vancouver,” said Colin Mansell, Managing Director of RED Academy. “There’s an incredible demand for skilled professionals, yet there are very few resources for people to receive in-depth education. We wanted to create a place that not only teaches these essential skill sets, but also develops local talent.”
RED Academy will offer full-time and part-time programs that specialize in Coding Essentials, UX and Web Design, and Digital Marketing. For working professionals, evening and weekend programs are also available, with the addition of Branding, Graphic Design and eCommerce courses. Mentorships and small class sizes, along with an ‘open-door’ policy, aim to give students the one-on-one attention they need to succeed in the tech sector.
“The best way for students to learn is to get as much industry knowledge as possible. That’s why all of our instructors are highly sought-after experts in their field, and can offer both knowledge and insights into the tech sector. We also work closely with industry hiring partners to make sure that our programs are designed to create highly employable graduates that local companies are looking for right now.”
RED Academy is hosting an event Thursday, July 11th at Portside Pub in Gastown from 6pm to 7:30pm. Meet the instructors one-on-one and learn more about the programs. To register, visit: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/red-academy-social-at-portside-tickets-17239274133
