2016 Honda Celebration of Light starts today

The eagerly anticipated 26th annual Honda Celebration of Light fireworks festival is finally here! Come down to English Bay tonight to see Team Netherlands, represented by Royal Fireworks, in their first time competing in Vancouver’s largest annual event, the longest running offshore fireworks competition in the world.

Be sure to wear orange and post to social media using the hashtag #celeboflight and the Dutch flag emoji to show your support for the team!

The fireworks will begin promptly at 10:00 p.m., rain or shine, from the barges located in English Bay. Music simulcast can be heard on LG 104.3 FM and through the festival’s mobile app.

The SHOREFEST concert series at Sunset Beach is also returning today to the LG104.3 Stage above the Keg Lounge where feature performers Willa and The Matinee will be headlining, starting at 7:30 PM.

For those hoping to enjoy a drink on a hot summer day, the Sunsetter Lounge presented by Stanley Park Brewing, is the place to be, located at Sunset Beach for 19+ festival attendees (this year, with extended hours until 9:00 p.m.).

Given the large volume of festival attendees and limited parking in the area, Honda Celebration of Light organizers encourage attendees to walk, cycle or transit to get to the event.
