2015 Ford Fiesta ST: Test Drive

Recently, Ford Canada encourage Canadians to “Try More” from bull riding, playing live music to axe throwing. Ford invited me to try a unique driving experience with the 2015 Ford Fiesta ST. All I know was to show up at an empty parking lot at SilverCity Riverport in Richmond.

When instructor, Brendan Mann, drove up in a shiny, bright orange Fiesta ST with racing stripes, I had a big smile on my face. I knew its going to be fun day.

Brendan is a professional race car driver and instructor at Morrisport. Morrisport specialized in on-site driving experience, track day program and new vehicle press launch. It’s been awhile since I drove a manual car. The mission of the day was to brush up on my stick shift skills.

The first 40 minutes was challenging as I have re-learn the fundamental of using the clutch, gas and brake. Oh boy, I’ve stalled the car so many times. Brendan was very patient during the entire process.

After many laps around the parking lot, I was able to drive without stalling and can shift up and down effortlessly. Shortly, I was able to drive it in the street and carry a conversation without problems. It was awesome to drive and chat with Brendan about his racing career and passionate for sports cars.

As an auto enthusiast, there’s nothing like driving a stick shift. It’s the purest form of driving. You can feel the pulse of the engine as you shift and bumps in the road as your turn. In a way, you are more connected with your vehicle. You are in total control. It made driving fun again!

Our Fiesta ST was powered by a 1.6L turbocharged EcoBoost engine that delivers 197 horsepower & 202 lb. ft. of torque onto the 17 inch aluminum wheels and sport-tuned suspension. It’s definitely a driver’s car.

The Fiesta ST is track ready with leather RECARO seats, sport steering wheel and aluminum pedals and shift knob.
