Harrison Hot Spring: BC Sport Fishing Group & Circle Farm Tour

Day 2 started with an early morning wake-up call. We woke up at 5:00 am to capture the majestic landscape around the Harrison Hot Spring Resort. As the sun rose, the mountain tops and the sky glow into a beautiful crimson red. It was also a perfect opportunity to shoot the hot springs without any people in the background.

After a quick nap, we headed to the Lakeside Cafe for breakfast. We were seated by the window, overlooking Harrison Lake. Lakeside Cafe served up a delicious breakfast buffet. The menu were healthy cereals, yogurts, fresh cut fruits, hash browns, bacon and sausages. There’s also a Chef on hand at the omelette station.

After a hearty breakfast, we headed to the marina to meet Tony Nootebos, the owner of BC Sport Fishing Group Ltd, who has 30 plus years of fishing experience in the Fraser Valley. Beside the love of fishing, Tony is also passionate about educating guests the rich history of Harrison. Did you know Harrison Lake was a major thoroughfare during the gold rush. You can still spot evidence of the gold rush from the wrecked paddlewheeler to the grave site.

During our eco-river tour, Tony educated us on the various wildlife and plantation in the Harrison eco-system. It was a good day. We spotted 6 bald eagles and 4 ospreys.

We recommend taking the river tour in November during the spawning season. You can easily spot thousands of wild, pink salmons on the river floor. Thousand of salmons also means there will be hundreds of bald eagle birds and ospreys looking for food.

In addition to eco-tours, BC Sportfishing Group, has a fleet of 22 boats for guided fishing trips. Guests can enjoy sturgeon, salmon and trout fishing.

It’s interesting to see the drastic change in the lake floor terrain. It can go from 1 feet to 35 feet in an instant.

Tony calls this the “double double.” This is where the Fraser River meet the Harrison Lake. It’s not dirty water. Its the sediments from the river floor mixing with clear lake water.

As a big support of the buy local movement, we ended our Harrison Hot Spring adventure by going back to Vancouver via the Circle Farm Tour. We check out the local artisans at the Farmhouse Cheeses in Agassiz, Honeyview Farms in Chilliwack, Hofstedes Market in Chilliwack, Lepp Market in Abbotsford, Krause Berry Farm in Langley, JD Turkey Farm in Langley, Chaberton Winery in Langley and Township 7 Winery in Langley.

Overall, we had an amazing time at Harrison. We would like to thank the wonderful team at Harrison Hot Spring Resort & Spa for their warm hospitality. All of the staffs were very friendly and helpful, and would always check you had everything you needed. We can’t wait to get back in November to check out the salmon spawning season.
