Rajio Japanese Public House celebrates 5th Year Anniversary – November 11 – 18, 2017

Located near UBC in Point Grey, Rajio Japanese Public House is a hip, eclectic Japanese Izakaya restaurant specializing in Japanese tapas and Osaka style kushikatsu. Kushikatsu is deep fried meat or vegetables on a skewer.

This week Rajio is celebrating its 5th year anniversary with a special limited edition menu until November 18.

We began our menu tasting with Rajio’s signature fruit punch served in a fresh pineapple or watermelon. It’s homemade juice mixed with rum.

Chef’s choice 15 piece sashimi patter for $15.80. It includes yellowtail, albacore tuna, sockeye salmon, squid, and snow crab. The raw seafood was extremely fresh and served in a good portion.

Beef katsu with beet and greens salad with olive oil dressing and homemade steak sauce. The beef cutlets was crispy with light panko batter.

Yellowtail sushi pressed with shiso leaves. The shiso leaf adds an aromatic flavour to the sushi.

One of my favourite was the falling off the bone beef short rib. It was served with a balsamic vingar glaze.

Lastly for the Uni lovers, sea urchin and oyster fried rice pot. The sea urchin was delicate, creamy and sweet.
