Hot Chocolate Fridays at Fairmont Waterfront with HYPE Chocolate

Winter in Vancouver usually means rain, grey skies, and a serious need for something warm. If you are walking along the seawall or running errands downtown, there is a sweet new spot to help you beat the chill. Fairmont Waterfront has teamed up with HYPE Chocolate to bring a cozy Hot Chocolate Pop-Up to their hotel lobby.

It is happening every Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM until December 19. It is the perfect excuse to step out of the cold and treat yourself.

The menu is simple but decadent. You can choose between two rich bases. The Original Hot Chocolate mixes dark and milk chocolate with a creamy milk base. If you prefer a plant-based option, the Vegan Hot Chocolate uses oat milk and dark chocolate. Both drinks are finished with chocolate shavings, a drizzle of chocolate, and a pinch of Maldon sea salt to balance the sweetness.

The best part is the customization. For $8, you get your cup of artisanal hot chocolate along with unlimited toppings. You can keep it classic with whipped cream and marshmallows, or add some crunch with crumbled Oreos and Biscoff cookies.

If you want to take a bit of the experience home, there are co-branded chocolate bars available for purchase. They range from $13 to $18 and make great gifts. You can find festive flavours like S’mores and Gingerbread, or try the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt which was inspired by the hotel’s coastal location. There are also standard Milk, White, and Vegan bars if you prefer traditional flavours.

This event is also a nice way to support a local business. HYPE Chocolate was co-founded right here in Vancouver by Scott Symons and Marlayna Pincott. They use 100% sustainable ingredients, which aligns well with Fairmont Waterfront’s own focus on sustainability.

Whether you need a break from holiday shopping or just want to warm up after a walk by the water, this pop-up is worth a visit. It is a little bit of joy and a lot of chocolate right in the heart of the city.
