2021 Dine Out Vancouver: Canada’s largest food and drink festival

Bao Buns – hoisin tempeh, pickled onion + cucumber, sambal aioli, cilantro, crispy shallots

The 19th annual Dine Out Vancouver – Canada’s largest food and drink celebration is happening from February 5 to March 7, 2021. There are over 350 participating restaurants offering special menus, flexible dining options and take-out. This year is a great opportunity to try different culinary experiences and support local restaurants.

For my Dine Out preview, I visited MILA, an innovative 100% plant-based focus on internationally-inspired flavour, a sister concept of Virtuous Pie. The menu features a mix of fresh takes on old classics. They are offering a $20 lunch menu and $40 dinner menu. I highly recommend ordering the delicious Bao Buns with hoisin tempeh, double patty Smash Burger with black garlic chive aioli and the decadent Peanut Butter Cup Pie with puffed crisps and chocolate ganache.

Smash Burger – double patty, cheddar, black garlic chive aioli, iceberg, onion, roma, pickle, brioche, smashed chips
Aburi Lox Oshi – carrot lox, aburi sauce, shiso, serrano
Wild Mushroom Toast – whipped ricotta, demi-glace, truffle, micro herb
Lemon Custard Bar – salted oat crust, berry compote
Peanut Butter Cup Pie – puffed crisps, chocolate ganache, maldon
