Native Shoes releases limited Apollo hand-dyed collection
This November, Native Shoes will be releasing a limited, hand-dyed edition of its new Apollo Moc and Chukka shoe styles to select Canadian retailers – a prelude to the full collection launch for Spring 2015. Following the sell-out of the Apollo Moc’s early release in US retailer Kith NYC this past summer, this limited edition Shibori collection will be available to Canadian consumers just in time for the holiday season.
This new pack includes four styles of ultra light shoes, two of which are hand-dyed using a technique inspired by the thousand year old Shibori method. Inspired by the age-old moccasin and chukka boot, the Apollo’s are re-imagined using a lightweight and breathable micro-fibre upper, no-sew construction, and a shock-absorbent EVA outsole.
The hand-dyed Shibori pack includes a washed grey Apollo Moc and indigo blue Apollo Chukka. Through utilizing both Itajime and Kumo dyeing techniques, the result is a one-of-a kind future fibre ideal for constructing the no-sew upper.
“When an ancient dyeing technique and a futuristic construction merge, the result is always Future Classic,” says Mark Gainor, Native’s creative director. “The nature of the hand-dyeing process results in no two shoes looking the same, encouraging some left-foot, right-foot rivalry.”
The Native Shoes Hand Dyed Pack will be available exclusively in six Canadian retailers (and three online stores) this November 2014. The Apollo Moc and Apollo Chukka will be available globally this spring 2015.
