Where to recycle your Christmas Tree in Vancouver
Christmas Tree Chipping Events
Annually, the City of Vancouver, together with volunteers from the Lions Clubs in Vancouver, provides residents with Christmas tree chipping events during the month of January. In 2011, about 2,600 live cut trees were chipped during the events and composted at the Vancouver Landfill.
Continue to support the Lions Clubs by bringing your live, cut tree to the 2012 weekend chipping events. Donations of cash and non-perishable food items will be distributed to local charities.
Date: Saturday and Sunday, January 7th and 8th, 2012
Time: 10 am to 4 pm both days

- Kerrisdale Community Ice Rink parking lot (East Boulevard north of 41st Avenue)
- Kitsilano Beach parking lot (Cornwall Avenue and Arbutus Street)

- RONA Home and Garden Grandview Store (2727 East 12th Avenue – overflow parking lot south of 12th Avenue). (This is the replacement site for Trout Lake Community Center)
Other Disposal Options
If you receive City yard trimmings collection service, you may set out your live cut Christmas tree on your regular collection day. Christmas trees will be collected by City crews until January 31. Trees should be set out on their own 1 metre clear of your cart(s) and laid on their sides. Do not place the tree inside your cart. Do not bag or bundle the tree. Please remember to remove all decorations and tinsel.
Alternatively, you may drop off your tree at the Vancouver South Transfer Station or the Vancouver Landfill at no charge up to and including January 31.
