Vancouver Tree Lighting - December 9, 2011

The fifth annual Vancouver Tree Lighting event will be held at the Jack Poole Plaza at the Convention Centre on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This free community event is the largest tree lighting ceremony in Western Canada, with the 50-foot Shaw Holiday Tree that will stand lit until after New Years. Performers will include Aliqua, the Vancouver’s Children’s Choir, Christmas soloists and special guest appearances by the BC Lions along with the Felions and Bro Jake from Rock 101. Rick Hansen will light the tree around 6:55 p.m. Don’t miss this local tradition.

5:30 p.m.: The celebration begins! Bring the family to Jack Poole Plaza at the Convention Centre

5:45 p.m.: Vancouver Children’s Choir will be performing some favourite Christmas carols

6:00 p.m.: Santa Claus arrives

6:05 p.m.: Isabella De Cotiis sings

6:12 p.m.: Vancouver Children’s Choir will share more holiday songs

6:24 p.m.: Patrick Hewson sings

6:34 p.m.: Acappella group Aliqua performs

6:38 p.m.: Rick Hansen will come on stage to get ready for the lighting

6:55 p.m.: The countdown begins to the tree lighting!
