The Fair at the PNE featuring Game of Thrones: The Exhibition
The Pacific National Exhibition kicks off the 104th annual Fair at the PNE today, Saturday, August 16th running through Monday, September 1st (closed Monday, August 18th and Monday, August 25th). This year, the PNE presents an incredible entertainment lineup, including the highly anticipated Game of Thrones®: The Exhibition and some of the most talented musical guests the Summer Night Concert series has ever seen.
This year’s Summer Night Concerts feature world-renowned artists and local rising stars that will please fans of all genres. Some of the highlight performances will include: Phillip Phillips, Boyz II Men, LeAnn Rimes, the Pointer Sisters, Air Supply, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Gavin DeGraw, the Plain White T’s and Disney Channel star and platinum selling artist, Zendaya. The Concerts will run every evening from August 16th to September 1st (except Mondays August 18th and August 25th) at 8:00pm on the WestJet Concert Stage.
Along with an awesome schedule of live performances, The Fair at the PNE is ecstatic to present Game of Thrones®: The Exhibition. The Game of Thrones television show captured the imaginations of audiences globally, with its storylines of treachery and nobility, family and honour, ambition and love, and death and survival. Now, for the very first time in Western Canada, guests to the Fair at the PNE will get the rare opportunity to enter the mythical realm of Westeros, sit on the coveted Iron Throne, experience an inside look at the highly-acclaimed show and set their sights on a collection of nearly 100 original artifacts. The Exhibition will also offer fans the all-new immersive 4D virtual reality experience using Oculus Rift technology. Presented by HBO, Game of Thrones®: The Exhibition will be open daily from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm in the Garden Auditorium.
Cat lovers, there is no need to spend hours searching for the best cat videos – the PNE, in partnership with CFHS, is bringing the cutest, funniest and most sensational videos of cats to the Fair in the Just For Cats: Internet Cat Video Festival! The first complete viewing will take place in the Pacific Coliseum at 5:00pm on Sunday August 17. Highlights will be shown daily at Celebration Plaza.
Also new to the Fair this year, witness the incredible talent of the Jigu! Thunder Drums of China® as they demonstrate the rich and historic culture of China through this powerful music performance. Blending traditional and modern elements, this company of drummers, percussionists, and musicians has been thrilling audiences with their high-energy, immersive show for nearly two decades. Check out the enthralling Jigu! Thunder Drums of China® daily for one week only from August 16-24 at 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm in the Pacific Coliseum (except Monday August 18).
Then, transport overseas in the internationally acclaimed Bollywood dance spectacular, Mystic India: The World Tour. Mesmerizing musicians, captivating dancers, riveting acrobats, and breathtaking costumes will intertwine through a harmonized artistic display of authentic Indian and modern dance techniques. With bursts of colour and energy, spectators will travel through Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat in a celebration of Indian culture and its transition to modern India. Mystic India: The World Tour will take off twice daily for one week only at 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm from August 26 to September 1 in the Pacific Coliseum.
Get ready for some of the best and unique food you’ll sink your teeth into this summer. The 4th Annual Vancouver Rib Festival Competition is back by popular demand featuring top Champion BBQ Pit Masters from across Canada. Four national teams will feature some of the best award-winning barbecue ribs, brisket, and pulled pork made by real tried and true champions. The competition will take place on Wednesday, August 27th from 4:50 pm to 5:30 pm at the Rogers Digital Venue.
