Just For Fun Summer Camp Party Benefiting imagine1day - July 21, 2012

First Ever Adult Summer Camp Event Aims to Break Vancouverites Out of Their Shells

Soon Vancouver grown-ups will have the opportunity to do what they did as kids at summer camp — make new friends — at the Just For Fun Summer Camp Party July 21, 2012 at Performance Works. Produced by Just For Fun Dance Party, the event will help Vancouverites prove their antisocial reputations wrong, while raising funds for imagine1day, a charity that builds schools in Ethiopia.

In the wake of headlines about Vancouver’s isolating social environment, the Just For Fun Summer Camp Party arrives just in time. The event will feature all the fun and games of summer camp, with grown-up fun thrown in. Music, beverages of the adult variety, and a live talent show will round out this action-packed night.

“I think sometimes we get caught up in the hustle of everyday life and we forget what it’s like to just let loose and have fun like we did when we were little,” says Thea Gow-Jarrett, event organizer and Creative Director of Just For Fun Dance Party. “This party will be a great way for everyone to relive that fun, with all proceeds going to an awesome cause.”

Leading up to the event, Thea is raising extra funds through Fun Challenges. For every $1,000 she raises for imagine1day, she goes to a busy rush hour location (such as Broadway Skytrain Station) and spreads the fun in the form of a dance routine and a ridiculous costume. Just For Fun Summer Camp Party attendees can expect more of the same outrageous fun at the event.
