Big Screen Hockey Games

Catch all seven of Canada’s NHL hockey teams in action as they broadcast CBC Hockey Night in Canada on a giant screen. You can even come to cheer on your hometown Canucks at 7pm as they take on arch rival Calgary. Watch for CBC filming live segments for its Hockey Day coverage at the Oval and you could be part of their national broadcast!

A day-long hockey jamboree on the Oval’s twin Olympic-sized ice sheets featuring local Richmond hockey teams. Vancouver Canucks Alumni and Canucks Manager of Hockey Development Rod Brathwaite will lead a special skills clinic for selected local players.

Floorball Canada

Learn about the exciting sport of Floorball, a variant of floor hockey that is rapidly growing in popularity. The sport will be demonstrated on two full-size Floorball Hockey rinks in the Oval’s Court Zone and players and officials from Floorball Canada, BC Floorball and Canada’s Men’s National Floorball Team will be on hand to showcase their sport. Watch for a variety of contests including fastest shot, accuracy challenge, stick handling obstacle course, mini-games and showcase games.

Sony PlayStation Slap Shot Zone

Play the latest electronic hockey games, plus many of Sony Playstation’s other latest hits. Challenge friends, gain glory, and win prizes!

Classic Games Zone

Get your fill of some hockey game classics like bubble hockey, table hockey, air hockey and more!

Urban Rec Street Hockey Tournament

Watch the exciting 3-on-3 street hockey tournament on the Oval riverside plaza being organized by Urban Rec. Register today as spots are limited: http://www.urbanrec.ca/Vancouver/default.aspx?id=Hockey+Day+In+Canada.

Roving Entertainment

Roving entertainment will include Duh Hockey Guys: comedic performers dressed as hockey players on stilts who will interact with crowd and were a popular attraction at various Olympic celebration sites. Other entertainment to be confirmed.

Hockey Memorabilia Zone

Find a hockey treasure in a sea of over 50 hockey memorabilia vendors. Organized by Bossa Productions, Western Canada’s largest producer of sports memorabilia and collectibles. Pick up your favourite NHL player’s hockey card, get signed player prints, trade stickers, pins and more! Tons of free giveaways.

Prizes/Contests

Visit the 24 Hours “Shoot to Win” booth where 24 Hours, West Jet and Japan Air Lines will give away a trip for two to Japan on event day.

There will also have draws/contests for Canucks, Vancouver Giants and Richmond Sockeyes tickets and other prizes on the day of the event. Look for lots of free giveaways of product samples and other great free stuff at event, including thousands of hockey cards and hockey stickers.

Event Parking

There will be no parking available underground at the Oval, but fear not—there will be a ton of alternate parking off-site on River Road, at Worksafe BC and the Richmond Public Works Yard. A free shuttle will be operating between the Richmond Public Works Yard and the Oval. On event day, River Road will be closed to east-bound traffic.
