Goh Ballet's The Nutcracker at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts - December 15 - 18, 2011

Each year, the Goh Ballet celebrates the holiday season with a production of the family must-see — The Nutcracker. A fairytale ballet, the story is treasured by children and adults alike, weaving a tale full of magical surprises, and enchanting dance moves.

In December 2009, the Goh Ballet was proud to produce the largest full-length ballet in the history of the Youth Company. This production, at the Centre for the Performing Arts, featured over 200 local talented dancers and 2 guest stars from the National Ballet of Canada. Accompanying these world class performers was the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, a splendid addition to complement the staging of world-renowned choreographer — Anna-Marie Holmes. It featured larger-than-life sets and spectacular costumes with original lighting design by Canadian — Pierre Lavoie.

Second to none, the Goh Ballet is focused on bringing a sense of rejuvenation to the Vancouver arts scene through this annual Vancouver production; the first Nutcracker to draw together Vancouver dancers, musicians, singers, and visual artists. Bridging our arts communities in such a way further promotes the development of culture and artistry in the city. Moreover, the presence of dancers from the National Ballet of Canada opens the door for mentorship to take place between aspiring youth and professional dancers.
