Evo Car Share increases fleet and expands Home Zone to UBC and Langara College area – just in time for back to school
Back to school is upon us and to celebrate BCAA’s Evo Car Share is adding 100 more hybrid, four-door cars and expanding its Home Zone further west to UBC campus, south to 49th Avenue near Langara College and east to Boundary Road. Evo’s expansion includes doubling its fleet to 500 with new Evo cars rolling out now and in the coming months. This is Evo’s second Home Zone expansion in the last few months. In July, Evo grew its zone to cover Jericho Beach and Grouse Mountain.
To celebrate its latest Home Zone expansion, Evo has a number of events planned to kick off the school year and will participate at UBC-sponsored Alma Mater Society (AMS) events with a special, limited-time student offer of free registration and free driving minutes (over $50 CAD value). Early student sign-ups will get UBC Book Store gift cards courtesy of Evo.
Evo Car Share, created by BCAA and launched in late March, is Vancouver’s only pick-up and drop-off anywhere service to offer a full fleet of four-door, hybrid vehicles. All cars have room for five passengers, cargo space and ski/bike racks. The new additions to the Evo fleet have sunroofs and are the latest models of Toyota Prius hybrids.
According to Shan Parmar, Evo’s Director, business has been booming since launch and growth is necessary to keep up with demand. “We’ve gone from 3,000 sign-ups at launch, to well over 20,000 in less than six months and usage has been impressive, with thousands of Evo Members taking over 150,000 trips. We’re excited to be doubling our fleet to ensure more people can experience Evo and do more things with more friends.â€

“Evo cars are not only built for the B.C. lifestyle, but the student lifestyle and budget,†says Parmar. “Now, with expansion to UBC campus and the Langara College area, we look forward to giving students one more sustainable and affordable way to easily get around.â€
“Being a B.C.-based company, we’re proud to live in a city that offers so many great transportation options and even prouder that Vancouverites are embracing Evo Car Share to enjoy more of B.C. with their friends,†says Parmar. “We’re thrilled to bring the Evo experience to UBC and Langara students.â€
