Emily Carr and Downtown Vancouver BIA Wrap Project on Granville Street (video x photo gallery)
Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association (DVBIA) ‘unwrapped’ the 12 newly re-purposed electrical boxes located on Granville Street to help curb graffiti while adding a public art collection to downtown Vancouver.
Each of the utility boxes located on the sidewalk along ten blocks between West Cordova and Drake Street have been covered in a vinyl overlay with unique designs created by students from Emily Carr’s Illustration program.
The 12 designs were selected from over 80 submissions by a jury comprised of Emily Carr faculty, members of the business community and an environmental security consultant. Each design celebrates the heritage or current use of Granville Street.
Featured students include: Jocelyn Chan, Sylvia Chan, Roberta Chang, Arantxa Garcia, Nicholas Goebel, Zara Haque, Mark Illing, Brenna Randlett, Sterling Richter, Joyce Seo, Louisa Tsui, and Sarah Wilson.
