Contest! Hyak White Water River Rafting Adventure in Chilliwack
Whitewater rafting has been on my bucket list for the past year. On a chilly Monday morning, we pack the van full of bloggers for a 50 mins drive to Chilliwack. Once we have arrive to the Hyak office, we change up our street wear to some ultra chic wetsuit, spray jacket and bright orange life jacket. We were immediately introduce to our guide Jared and Josh, who both have many years of experience rafting and navigating the rapids. Next, the Hyak crew instructed us with various safety procedures insuring everyone will have fun time!
Once we reach the cold water, we began our heart pounding 18 km, 4.5 hours rafting journey. Our guide, Jared was awesome, friendly and knowledgable. In the first half, we paddled through novice rapids getting ourself familiar with the river and working together as team. Many companies sign up to go rafting as a team building activity. Its a great way to boost employee morale and build trust. After 30 minutes, we took a short break to hike up to a gorgeous waterfall and hot spring.
At noon, we were treated to a delicious buffet lunch – sandwiches, cookies, juice and hot chocolate. After a hearty lunch, we were ready for some real hardcore, bone crushing waves. Jared navigated us to the Tamahi, Sawmill, and Swamp, which were were Class 3 and 4 rapids. The Tamahi is the same course the Canadian National Kayak team trained on. According to Paddling.net, a Class 4 is “Difficult. Long and powerful rapids and standing waves; souse holes and boiling eddies. Powerful and precise maneuvering required. Visual inspection mandatory. Cannot be run in canoes unless the craft is decked or properly equipped with flotation bags. Advance preparations for possible rescue work important.” If you are an adrenaline junkie,  you’ll love the Class 4 rapids. If not, seat at the back of the boat and brace yourself for the best ride of your life.
If you’re looking for a fun and exciting outdoor adventure, look no further than Hyak White Water River Rafting. Chilliwack is considered to be one of the best rivers for rafting in Canada. The river offers numerous long and continuous rapids with a breathtaking back drop of the Cascade Mountains.
We have partnered up with Hyak to give away a free white water river rafting trip.
