Come Experience Latin America Culture and Cuisine at Carnaval del Sol
Now in its sixth year, is back on Granville Street Mall on July 5th and 6th. Carnaval del Sol is part of a week-long celebration of Latin America week in Vancouver. Last year the two day event drew 100,000 people to Granville Street Mall.
In Latin American people enjoy gathering in the local “plaza†to soak up the daily happenings. Carnaval del Sol recreates this experience by bringing the plaza to Vancouver with scheduled events that include locally and nationally renowned Latin musical artists, folk dance troupes, a marketplace that displays the work of Latin American artisans and childrens’ games.
Music: Enjoy the rythms, the beat and the passion of Latin America music throughout the two day event by checking out performances in the main stage, second stage and the newest plaza at Robson Square Viva Plaza. Bring your family, friends and colleagues along with your dancing shoes and enjoying dancing to bachata, cumbia, meringue, salsa and more.
Food: Carnaval del Sol 2014 brings you some tasty homemade Latin American cuisine as well as a wide range of local food trucks, serving up some of Vancouver’s very best street cuisine. Check out the food- travel-plaza and be emerged into Latin America culture by tasting some delicious Latin America cuisine.
Soccer: New this year is the Latin America House at Edgewater Casino which joins the World Cup Celebration from June 12th to July 13th. Throughout the tournament you can watch the games on a super- size screen. You can also signing up your team for Carnaval del Sol’s Mini World Cup which is supported by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Latincouver is a non-profit organization connecting Latin Americans and Latin American enthusiasts. It operates as a social, cultural and business portal for the Latin American communities in Metro Vancouver, hosting year-round networking events.
