Axé Capoeira presents the 2011 Afro-Brazilian Block Party.

Axé Capoeira and the City of Vancouver will be hosting an Afro-Brazilian Block Party on July 23rd, 2011 on Granville Street (between Robson and Georgia Street). The event is expected to draw thousands of people for a full day of performances including traditional dance, music and Capoeira culminating in a huge Brazilian street party not to be missed.

Schedule of Events

11:00-12:00pm: Opening music concert
12:00-1:00pm: Interactive kids show featuring Afro-Brazilian music, history and dance
1:00-2:00pm: Capoeira demonstration & class
2:00-3:00pm: Dance class – Zumba, Samba, Afro (open to public participation)
3:00-4:00pm: Capoeira & dance demonstration
4:00-5:00pm: Music concert featuring Afro-Brazilian percussion instruments
5:00-7:00pm: Finale – live Afro-Brazilian music and dance show featuring Capoeira and Samba
