A Festive Eat-Along at The Rec Room Granville

If watching the movie Elf is part of your yearly holiday tradition, The Rec Room Granville has a plan to make it a little more interesting this season. On December 21, they are hosting an “Eat-Along” event. The concept is simple but fun: you watch the movie, and as specific scenes play out on the big screen, you get served food that matches the moment.
The experience starts right when Buddy arrives in New York City and discovers the “world’s best cup of coffee.” To toast the occasion, you get a choice between an espresso martini or a coffee piled high with whipped cream and Oreo crumble.
Next up is the most famous food scene in the movie: the breakfast spaghetti. In the film, Buddy covers his pasta in maple syrup, chocolate, and Pop-Tarts. The Rec Room is serving a much more appetizing version featuring sun-dried tomato and goat cheese spaghettini. However, they aren’t ignoring the theme completely. The dish comes with a playful side of sweets to honor the elves’ four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup.
When Buddy and his brother Michael get into that massive snowball fight in Central Park, you will get a snack to match the snowy scenery. The kitchen will send out powdered sugar mini donuts to eat while the snowballs fly on screen.
To finish things off, the meal ends with a nod to Buddy’s New York City date night. You will get hot dogs and mini pretzels, just like you would find on a street corner in the Big Apple.
This event is happening on December 21 at 12:30 pm. Because there are cocktails involved, you must be 19 or older to attend.
Tickets are $38.16 plus tax per person. That price covers your admission to the movie and all four courses of the featured food. If you want anything else to drink or eat, their regular menu is available for separate purchases.
It sounds like a great way to take a break from the holiday rush and enjoy a classic film with a crowd. If you know every line by heart, this is a great excuse to watch it one more time.
