30th Anniversary CHW Pro-Am Golf Tournament at Richmond Country Club – July 9, 2012

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the CHW Pro-Am Golf Tournament. It is the longest running event of its kind in the Lower Mainland and continues to raise money for women, children and healthcare in Israel. Since 1982, the Pro-Am has also raised money and awareness for the Vancouver Prostate Cancer Centre.

Many prominent women in the Vancouver Jewish community have been involved over the years in organizing this event and there have been many interesting and important people, mostly men, who have participated as golfers. Without a doubt, there is a plethora of good stories to tell about the years of fundraising and golfing. This year’s Co-Chairs, Sandy Chernoff and Bonnie Belzberg, are thrilled to be heading up the 30th annual Pro Am. Together with their committee, they have developed a number of fun ways to recognize the longevity of the event, its participants as well as some of the dedicated sponsors.

This year, with rockets raining down on Be’er Sheva from the Gaza strip, communities in Israel need the support of CHW in an urgent way. The generous sponsors and supporters of the Pro Am help to alleviate the suffering of those in Israel by ensuring that many of the crisis response services funded by CHW remain available and accessible for families in crisis. For 30 years, the Pro Am has endured as a vehicle for raising funds and is currently the largest single event fundraiser for CHW in Vancouver. The fact that the money raised through the golf tournament goes to such an important cause should make playing even more fun.

The top pros will be competing again this year for a $10,000 purse as part of the Vancouver Golf Tour (VGT) and Live Scoring will once again be featured, courtesy of the VGT.
