2nd Annual Surrey Marathon This Sunday, September 29, 2013
The 2nd Annual Surrey International World Music Marathon, presented by Central City takes place this Sunday, September 29 starting at 7:00am.
An event that’s built for everyone, from committed marathoners to novice runners, the Surrey World Music Marathon invites runners of all athletic abilities to take part in a range of activities, including the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Prospera Credit Union Relay, Mayors 5K Run or the Century Group Kids Fun Run.
The weekend is all about fun, fitness, and community spirit, starting with Friday and Saturday’s Wellness Expo and continuing on with Sunday’s uniquely themed ‘cultural music miles’. These energetic performance stations celebrate Surrey’s diverse cultural background with world music, dancing, and festivities from around the world to encourage runners as they make their way along the new route.
START/FINISH LINE:Â University Drive and 102 Avenue at Central City
EVENT START TIMES:
- 7:00am – Full Marathon Walkers
- 7:30am – Full Marathon / Prospera Credit Union Relay Marathon
- 8:00am – Half Marathon / Half Marathon Relay Race / Half Marathon Walkers
- 9:30am – Mayor’s 5K Run
- 11:00am – Century Group Kids Fun Run
Local residents, participants, supporters, and visitors destined for Central City Mall and the downtown business core should be advised of road closures, restricted access and traffic disruptions in the area beginning at 6:00 until approximately 2:00pm on September 29.Vehicle access to and from local residences will be impacted during this time.
