2012 Vancouver International Boat Show at BC Place and Granville Island Maritime Market and Marina – February 8 – 12, 2012

The Vancouver International Boat Show is Western Canada’s premiere boat show with two allnew locations, including an in-water venue at the Granville Island Maritime Market and Marina and an indoor venue at the newly renovated BC Place. Celebrating its 50th anniversary as BC’s largest showcase for the recreational boating industry, the 2012 Boat Show features the season’s hottest new boats and boating products at the best deals of the year.

The Vancouver International Boat Show has a number of exciting features this year, including:

‘Duma’ — The Famous Water Skiing and Boat-Driving Dog
The beloved seven-year-old Jack Russell Terrier continues to make waves and capture hearts as she cruises into the 2012 Vancouver International Boat Show on her custom water skis for an awe-inspiring show that is sure to delight the whole family. This water skiing sensation and long-time skipper will be on-hand to meet fans for photos and more after each show through Februrary 8th – 12th.

Russell Newberry — Deadliest Catch
Making his debut at the Vancouver International Boat Show, crew-member Russell Newberry of the Discovery Channel’s documentary/reality television hit series Deadliest Catch will be available from February 8th – 12th
to meet fans, sign autographs and share stories about working the world’s most dangerous job.

Zac Sunderland — Around the world at 16
At age 16 Zac Sunderland set a world-record as the youngest person to sail solo around the world. Now, the newly licensed captain and former Amazing Race contestant returns for his second year at the Boat Show to share tales of the perilous storms and incredible adventures he experienced on his record-breaking 13-month journey.

Abby Sunderland — Unsinkable
Having watched her older brother Zac successfully circumnavigate the globe in 2009, Abby Sunderland was equally determined to sail solo around the world. But just six months after setting sail, her boat was hit by a massive rogue wave that caused irreparable damage and ended her journey. Join Abby as she recounts the astounding (and sometimes near-death) encounters on the open sea that led her to write her stirring narrative, Unsinkable.

Kids Zone
With friendly, energetic staff, and plenty of fun activities, like paddleboat rides, the Nautical Play
Centre, located in the Kids Zone, is a can’t-miss hit for kids of all ages.

BC Marine Authors
Featuring an extensive collection of BC marine authors and titles, including “how to” books on everything from boat repair to navigation, BC Marine Authors offers tales of sailing adventures, destinations, and travel on the high sea, as well as appearances by featured authors throughout the show.

Wooden Boat Alley
Meet some of BC’s finest craftsmen as they showcase their exquisite wooden creations and demonstrate their exceptional skills and passion for this time-honoured, traditional marine craft.

Discover Boating
Free rides, resources and, most importantly, un-biased advice from boating experts can be found at the Discover Boating Centre. From novice to seasoned boat vet, help with everything from maintenance questions to first-time boat buying guides is available here.

Manufacturers Showcase
An all-new area dedicated specifically to the manufacturers of marine related products; see displays featuring the newest in electronics and navigation, power, paints, sails, rigging, plastics and more. This is THE place to learn more about the latest marine products and accessories in a relaxed, sales-free environment.

Government Services
An area dedicated to marine related Government Agencies. Transport Canada is on hand to discuss efficient marine transportation and safe, secure and sustainable marine practices; discuss the sustainability and development of Canada’s waterways and aquatic resources with Fisheries and Oceans; speak to the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary about its day-and-night search and rescue services — plus many other dedicated Government exhibitors are available to answer questions. The Government Services Station is a valuable resource centre.

Get Your Pleasure Craft Operators Card
Become a certified Pleasure Craft Operator at the Show. Learn more about the test, or even write the exam, proving that you are a capable boat operator.

Sailfest
Explore the largest number of sailboats ever found at the Show at the in-water venue and find all sail related products, services, schools and destinations easily recognizable by the SailFest flag.
