2012 Take a Hike Youth at Risk Foundation Moonlight Snowshoe – February 23, 2012
Moonlight Snowshoe 2012
February 23, 2012
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Take a Hike is an alternative education program that engages at-risk youth through a unique combination of adventure-based learning, academics, counseling, and community involvement.
Not every student fits into the mainstream school system. Students in the Take a Hike program often struggle with issues that have inhibited their success in the mainstream school system such as drug and alcohol addiction, physical and mental abuse, criminal activity, low self-esteem, depression, and/or trauma.
Most students are referred to the program by school counselors or social workers for an opportunity to make lasting change in their lives.
Registration
A guided moonlit snowshoe trek with great people and delectable treats amongst snow-capped trees.
In addition to a $20 registration fee, each registered participant commits to raise over $150 by collecting pledges from colleagues, friends and family.
Goal
The goal this year is to raise $40,000 to fully fund two multi-day expeditions for 40 at-risk Vancouver youth in May 2012, and support the Adventure-Based Learning component of Take a Hike.
