Exploring Sechelt in 2017 Ford Explorer Sport

On Day 2 of our Ford SUV Sunshine Coast trip, we woke up early to capture the beautiful scenery around Sechelt and Gerrans Bay. We took the 2017 Ford Explorer Sport to explore the island.

26 years ago, the Ford Explorer started the SUV craze. Today, it is still the #1 selling large sport utility vehicle in Canada.

Madeira Park is a small community along Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast. It was named after the island of Madeira off Portugal’s coast.

The fifth-generation Explorer packs a powerful twin-turbocharged 3.5 litre V6 EcoBoost that produces 365 horsepower and 350 lb. ft. of torque. The V6 is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive and a sport-tuned chassis. The Explorer was quick and responsive on the highway.

The Explorer is also equipped with the latest driver-assist technologies like Front 180 degree Camera, Lane Keeping System, Enhanced Active Park Assist, Blind Spot Information System and Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warming with Brake Support.

By a touch of button, the third row automatically tilt the seat back or stow away for more cargo space. The spacious cabin can seat up to 7 passengers and plenty of space for camping gear, sport equipment and suitcase.

With the Intelligent Access key, you just kick your foot under the bumper and the power liftgate automatically opens making it easier to load and unload cargo. You can also adjust the liftgate height, which is helpful for lower overhangs.

The Sport package includes 20 inch machined-aluminum wheels with painted pockets, unique blackout treatment on headlights and taillights, fascia-integrated dual exhaust tips, sport-tuned suspension and Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System.

The refine interior, luxury finish, comfortable ride and state-of-the-art tech make it an ideal SUV for family road trips.

Thanks Ford Canada for an amazing 2 days in the Sunshine Coast.
