Look at this animation and you can see the lifeblood of a sustainable economy. Let's start circulating people throughout the region as well as we do in my neighborhood. Living in Kitsilano, I'm well covered – as this animation clearly shows. But look at how poorly Surrey is supported. We need to invest now in a LOT more transit south of the Fraser, and be ok with losing money on those routes for a decade or more, in order to support sustainable development where the most population growth is occurring. Instead, we're demanding service cuts on unprofitable routes in the name of cost savings. At the same time we throw billions of dollars at bigger highways and bridges, locking our region into car dependency and a generation of gridlock and waste. We need to wake up, Vancouver!
