Vancouver Chinese Lantern Festival Opens Today!

It’s finally here! Gates for the Vancouver Chinese Lantern Festival at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) open today to crowds eager to see this much-anticipated world-renowned event making its Canadian debut here in Vancouver.

Presented by Art Show China Inc., the Canadian division of Sichuan Tianyu Culture Communication Co. Ltd., this festival will showcase Vancouver in a whole new light with cultural folk performances, a marketplace, festival foods, children’s activities and hundreds of illuminated lanterns, some of which reach 200 feet in length. The five-week family-friendly festival is taking over the PNE’s 14-acre site and with the exception of Christmas Day, will run nightly from December 15 until January 21, 2018.

In addition to the lantern displays, the festival will also include nightly performances in the PNE Amphitheatre: 6:30pm & 8:30pm on Sundays through Thursdays and 6:30pm, 8:30pm & 9:30pm on Fridays & Saturdays. Featuring Face Changing, Acrobatics, Plate Spinners, Folk Dance, Jar Balancing and Erhu, these exciting performances are sure to wow audiences.
