MUJI opens first British Columbia store at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby


On Saturday, August 26, MUJI opens its first British Columbia store at Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby. It’s currently the largest Canadian store at 7,770 square feet of retail space and offers over 4,000 different items.

MUJI, originally founded in Japan in 1980, offers a wide variety of good quality products including household goods, apparel and food. Mujirushi Ryohin, MUJI in Japanese, translates as “no-brand quality goods.

MUJI is based on three core principles, which remain unchanged to this day:
1. Selection of materials
2. Streamlining of processes
3. Simplification of packages

Today, MUJI has 422 stores in Japan and 428 stores around the world. MUJI will be opening a 10,500 square foot store at 1025 Robson Street in Downtown Vancouver by the end of the year.
