Jameson Caskmates Whiskey and Craft Beer Tasting

Did you know Jameson Caskmates are aged for 6 months in craft beer barrels? As a result, it added notes of cocoa, coffee and butterscotch to the classic Irish whiskey.

I recently attended a Jameson Caskmates Whiskey and Craft Beer Tasting at The Narrow Lounge in Mount Pleasant, Vancouver. The event was co-hosted by Rob Mangelsdorf, editor of The Growler and Ciara Cannon, Jameson Brand Ambassador. When paired with BC craft beer, it enhanced different notes of the whiskey.

The fist pairing was with Saltspring Rye Bock, limited summer release. It adds a touch of spice to the full-bodied, well-balanced bock.

The second pairing was with Steel and Oak Dark Lager. It was a refreshing pairing as it complemented the whiskey’s butterscotch and cocoa notes.

Tha last pairing was with Longwood Stoutnik. It was one of my favourite pairing with the stout-seasoned whiskey and enhances the Caskmates’ chocolate and coffee flavours.
