Chef Alex Chen teamed up with Chop Steakhouse & Bar for Steak Masters tour across Canada

Hey steak lovers! Long time friends, Celebrity Chef Alex Chen and Chop’s Executive Chef Stephen Clark has teamed up to create a limited edition Steak Masters – In Pursuit of Perfection menu and cross country tour. The Steak Masters tour kicked off in Vancouver then head east to Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg and Toronto. The special steak-forward menu is available now until April 27 at Chop Steakhouse & Bar in Richmond.

The first course was Steak Tartare paired with Codorniu Brut Clasico, a sparkling wine with citrus and green apple notes. The Steak Tartare is hand chopped certified angus beef served with truffle aioli and house-made russet potato chips. We love the freshest of the beef mixed with capers, egg yolk and lemon. It enhanced the pure flavor of the meat.

The second course was Sirloin Cap Picanha paired with La Linda Malbec, a full-bodied Argentina red wine with black cherry and dark chocolate flavours. Sirloin Cap Picanha is a 8 oz smoked sirloin cap steak with chimichurri & Brazilian spices. Inspired by South American BBQ, the sirloin was smoked to bring out the rich meat flavours and the chimichurri sauce was the perfect match.

The highlight of the dinner was the Tomahawk paired with Culmina Family R&D Red Blend, a rich and bold Merlot with blackberry, green plum and briny black olives flavours. Tomahawk, serves two or more, is a 40 oz rib eye with black pepper crusted, brandy peppercorn sauce and comes with two side dishes which are creamed corn and roasted baby potatoes & cauliflower. The massive Tomahawk was a meat lover dream. It was juicy, tender with the right amount of marbled fat. It just melts in your mouth. The creamed corn was just delicious.

The best way to end an all-beef dinner is a Pineapple Upside-Down Rum Cake paired with Marnier Pineau des Charentes, a sweet wine fermented with cognac. The Pineapple Upside-Down Rum Cake is made with caramelized pineapple, buttermilk gelato, candied pecans and burnt rosemary marshmallow.

As a meat lover, this was the ultimate steak dinner from the beautiful steak tartare, smoky sirloin to the juicy tomahawk. Highly recommend. The limited edition Steak Masters – In Pursuit of Perfection menu is available now until April 27 at Chop Steakhouse & Bar in Richmond.
