Spring is in the air: Blossom at Metropolis at Metrotown – March 5 – 31, 2019

Spring is in the air at Metropolis at Metrotown. From March 5 to 31, Blossom at Metropolis is a grand, one-of-a-kind art installation made up of more than 250,000 cherry blossoms.

Designed by Vancouver experiential design company Hfour, Blossom at Metropolis invites you to explore and wander this magical Spring space. You can take the ultimate selfie with quarter of a million plus cherry blossoms, which are reflected in dozens of mirror sphere to create an illusion of infinite blooms hanging above you.

Don’t forget to share your selfies using the hashtag #METBlossom and @metropolisatmet for a chance to win a weekly Blossom prize package or the grand prize $500 Metropolis at Metrotown gift card.

Throughout the month of March, there will be evening performances and workshops by Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre, origami sakura blossom and art of brush calligraphy workshops by MUJI.

March 6
5:00pm: Bloom & Brush: Brush Lettering Workshop with Maurelle Calligraphy (@HelloMaurelle) – Ages 16+. Workshop is approximately one hour long.

March 7
6:30pm – 8:00pm: Odori – Traditional Japanese Dancing Workshop. For all ages. (Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent/adult during workshop).

March 12
6:30pm – 7:00pm: Ikebana – Flower Arranging with Kaz Takahashi, Kado Sumi school of Ikebana. Ages 8+. (Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent/adult during workshop).

7:30pm – 8:00pm:  Ikebana – Flower Arranging with Kaz Takahashi, Kado Sumi school of Ikebana. Ages 8+. (Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent/adult during workshop).

March 13
4:00pm – 6:00pm: Cherry Blossom Origami Workshop with MUJI (Drop-ins welcome, first come, first serve). For all ages. (Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent/adult during workshop)

March 14
6:30pm – 8:00pm: Kizuna Chigiri-e with Yoriko Gillard – Washi Paper Collage Art Workshop. Ages 8+. (Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a parent/adult during workshop).

March 19
4:00pm – 6:00pm: Kirigami –  Paper Cutting Workshop with Mana Murata. Ages 14+.

6:30pm – 8:00pm: Tsumami Zaiku – Cloth Hairclip Art Workshop with Mana Murata. Ages 14+.

March 20
