Vancouver’s dynamic performance series returns this winter for its 28th installment, featuring three evenings of intimate and enchanting performances in celebration of Valentine’s Day. Dances for a Small Stage 28 runs at the Legion on the Drive from February 14 – 16, 2013.

Inspired by the whimsical celebration of Valentine’s Day, the series’ immensely talented line-up of local and national dancers will examine all angles of the universal emotion of love – the good, the bad, and the ugly.

“We designed our 28th Small Stage performance in celebration of Valentine’s Day and love in general,” says MovEnt Artistic Producer Julie-anne Saroyan. “Featuring a series of pieces inspired by the emotion that has touched us all, Dances for a Small Stage promises to be an unforgettable evening where truly anything can happen. Bring a date, grab a drink, and enjoy an entertaining night at the Legion on the Drive!”

This February’s three-show run will feature some of Canada’s most impressive and electric performers and choreographers, including both fan favourites and Small Stage first-timers. With dance backgrounds in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap, performances include works by Billy Marchenski, Alison Denham, Donald Sales, Arash Khakpour, Clare Twiddy, Meagan O’Shea, Dayna Szyndrowski, Karissa Barry, and sisters Yeva and Thoenn Glover.

The evening performance, co-curated by Saroyan and Barry, will be emceed by Marchenski.
