Canada Day at Canada Place will host the largest birthday party outside of Ottawa in celebration of the country’s 146th birthday on July 1. Join us for 13 hours of FREE family fun. Guests will enjoy a wide variety of live performances, breathtaking exhibits and interactive displays.

New this year is the Port Metro Vancouver Zone, the Extreme Canada Zone, the Great Canadian Invention Zone, and the headlining performers The Boom Booms and BIF Naked! Capping off the daytime festivities is the ever popular Canada Day Parade at 7:00pm and the Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show at 10:30pm.

CITIZENSHIP CEREMONY
(11 am – Vancouver Convention Centre East, Hall A)

Hosted by Global BC’s news anchor Steve Darling and Sophie Liu, the Citizenship Ceremony is a special part of our annual celebration. Join us as we welcome 60 new citizens to our Canadian family in a heartfelt ceremony at 11am under the sails in Hall A in the Vancouver Convention Centre East. Already Canadian? You can take part in the Canadian Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony to remind yourself what it means to be a citizen of our great nation.

Port Metro Vancouver’s Zone welcomes you to celebrate Canada and our country’s most diversified and largest Port. Learn about the importance of trade, the Port’s green efforts, how the Port operates day to day, meet Salty the seagull, and more. Visit the Discovery Centre to learn more about Canada’s largest and busiest Port.

CANADIAN FORCES (ARMY, NAVY & AIR FORCE) ZONE
(Hall B, Vancouver Convention Centre East, 10am-6pm)

Being a helping and caring nation: part of what Canada is all about. We’re proud to partner with the Canadian Forces to bring you incredible displays and exhibits from our Navy, Army and Air Force – our heroes! Stroll through engaging displays, use a metal detector, take a free tour of the Royal Canadian Navy Orcas in Harbour Green Park, and learn from members of our Forces.

GREAT CANADIAN INVENTION ZONE
(Ballrooms ABC, Vancouver Convention Centre East, 10am-6pm)

Highlighting our greatest inventions with everything from the telephone and newsprint to the BlackBerry and Basketball, this gallery experience will provide you with a unique and fun perspective of our country’s most recognizable inventions. Create your own crafts or play an activity inspired by great Canadian inventions.

HARBOUR GREEN PARK
(Harbour Green Park, foot of Bute Street, 10am-6pm)

Located along the seawall at the foot of Bute Street, this rolling grassy area is the perfect place to take in the view and enjoy a variety of family activities and attractions, including: Free face painting, bouncy castles, a water park, hula hoop and juggling classes, do-it-yourself projects from the Vancouver Art Gallery, Science World shows and Canada’s newest hobby, slack lining. (Professional stunt slacklining demonstrations from 11 am to 5:30 pm)

EXTREME CANADA ZONE
(Canada Place Way and Vancouver Convention Centre East Plaza, 11am-4:30pm)

Watch BMX bikers, trial riders and skateboarders bring our Canada Day celebration to the next level. These extreme sports athletes will take you on an exciting ride high into the sky.

Take the quiz to win one of two $2900 grand prize Harbour Experiences: A two-hour harbour tour for four people of the Burrard Inlet, including lunch on a working Port Metro Vancouver’s patrol vessel and an overnight stay for four at the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel.

CANADA DAY PARADE
(West Georgia and Broughton streets, Starts 7pm)

The 5th Annual Canada Day Parade starts at the corner of Georgia and Broughton Streets. This free community event features more than 60 dynamic entries and recognizes diversity, multiculturalism, freedom and the special bond that connects all Canadians. Look for the Vancouver Canucks “Fin”, the BC Lions, our friends from Hawaiian Punch, and more. Parade begins at Georgia & Broughton Streets. Heads east to Burrard Street, proceeding north down Burrard Street with dispersal at West Pender Street.

CANADA DAY BURRARD INLET FIREWORKS SHOW
Presented by Port Metro Vancouver
(Viewable from Coal Harbour sea wall, Stanley Park, West Vancouver, North Vancouver, 10:30pm)

Watch Vancouver’s only two-barge (Coal Harbour & Dundarave) simultaneous pyrotechnic extravaganza light up the sky in celebration of our nation’s 146th birthday. Fireworks show is simulcast to music broadcast by Classic Rock 101 and the Port Metro Vancouver app. Shaw TV will also be broadcasting the Fireworks Show live.
