Ford Mustang is World’s Best-Selling Sports Coupe

Today, April 17, is National Mustang Day. Ford Mustang is the world’s best-selling sports coupe for third straight year including in Canada with sales of 8,348 in 2017, a 9% increase over 2016. Ford sold 125,809 Mustang coupes and convertibles in 146 countries last year.

While sports cars have traditionally skewed toward male buyers, Mustang is increasingly finding favour with women and research shows a 10 per cent gain in women buying Mustang in the last five years.

Next year, Ford is bringing back the Mustang Bullitt. It will commemorate the 50th anniversary of iconic movie Bullitt starring Steve McQueen. The 2019 Mustang Bullitt is powered by a 5.0L V8 engine producing 475 horsepower with a top speed of 262 km/h (163 mph). Each Bullitt comes standard with the GT Performance Package, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster as well as the active valve performance exhaust system with a unique Black NitroPlate finish.
