“You were a delicious and honorable opponent, little donut. But today was not your day.” – Homer Simpson
If you’ve never sunk your teeth into one of these babies…
Then Honey, you have no idea what you’re missing.
These don’t look like the conventional circular doughnuts that you’re used to, and they certainly don’t taste like them either. Sprinkles? Crushed nuts? Sticky syrup? There’s no need for all that fluff, because when you’ve got a recipe this good, less is certainly more.
Available in just three flavors: honey, chocolate, and maple, these unassuming doughnuts are literally disfigured pucks of perfection. Served warm (as if there were any other way), the initial crunch of the crispy golden outside leads you to find an inside so soft, so light, so dense yet so delicate that you’ll wonder how you will ever stop yourself from eating just one.
Tim and Krispy, your dough just doesn’t compare.
Nestled in the beautiful yet unassuming village of Deep Cove, Honey Doughnuts & Goodies is an institution. Famous for (you guessed it) their doughnuts, it’s a neighbourhood joint that is packed with people on a mission to bite into these morsels of fried dough confection. We don’t think you can truly call yourself a Vancouverite until you’ve sunk your teeth into these bad boys, so may we suggest you hop in your car, take the next bus, or just start walking. We promise, these will be well worth the journey.
And if you’re one of those “dieters” who is resolving to ween off sugar, fat and carbs, you can put down that celery stick. Just a few steps away is Quarry Rock, a decent hike that will help you burn off each worthwhile calorie (or as we’d like to call it, another excuse to order a second round).
So if it’s not the diet that’s deterring you, you can’t use finances as an excuse either, as the only dough these will cost is merely a buck or two.
Honey, do yourself a favour. You won’t regret it.
