Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup at Kitsilano, English Bay, Coal Harbour & False Creek – September 15 – 23, 2012

This year the Great Shoreline Cleanup celebrates its 19th anniversary. Starting with a small ambitious group of 400 staff and volunteers from the Vancouver Aquarium, the cleanup has since expanded along the coast of BC and now across Canada with more than 56,000 volunteers. Today, it is recognized as one of the largest direct action conservation programs, as well as the most significant contributor to the International Coastal Cleanup in Canada.

Interested in contributing to the Shoreline Cleanup, but limited on time? Or, would you like to meet new people while doing something meaningful? Whatever the reason, becoming a cleanup participant is an easy, fun way to get outside, meet other locals, and make a difference. There are many cleanups that would love to have an extra pair of hands on their team. Take a look at some of the larger public clean ups looking for volunteers:

  • Kitsilano Beach Park
    Date: 15 September 2012
    Starts: 10:00AM
    Meeting location: North of The Boathouse Restaurant, just off Arbutus St.
  • English Bay Beach
    Date: 22 September 2012
    Starts: 10:00AM
    Meeting location: On the beach side of the seawall near Cactus Club.
  • Coal Harbour
    Date: 17 September 2012
    Starts: 12:00PM
    Meeting location:We will meet at Devonian Harbour Park, which is adjacent to the Georgia Street entrance to Stanley Park.
  • False Creek at Science World
    Date: 22 September 2012
    Starts: 11:00AM
    Meeting location: We will be meeting at the white tent located beside the playground about 50 yards North of Science World.
